It was with very great sadness that after 107 years on the 12th February 2010, I heard that the Royal Navy had joined the rest of Britain in abandoning excellence.

However those trained Artificers who "PASSED OUT" on this date and entered the Fleet will in some instances keep the traditions and the name alive for another 20-30years until the last member of the Grand Order of BOIARTS is finally retired from duty.

My story is just one of many from the hundreds of BOIARTS that passed through the process of turning young boys into men over a period of 4 years as Apprentices with a sense of Pride and Duty second to none.

Even after 60 years one still remembers ones apprenticeship as a wonderful period of Mischief and Mayhem that caused much consternation amongst our Overlords
